In a time where ass shaking, profanity, and derogatory lyrics dominate hip-hop, it is important to stop and enjoy something different, which is what I do every time I get a new track from Nay the Producer (NTP). As a Bay native who’s been in the south for almost five years, I frequently participate in the ratchettness caused by a Roscoe Dash or Travis Porter track, and I’m constantly embracing the Florida and Atlanta vibes. While I enjoy music from different regions, I make sure to keep tabs on artists coming out of the Bay. Along with artists like Erk Tha Jerk, Moe the Dreamer, and J Stalin, one of my favorite Bay Area artists is NTP.
This review is long overdue but hey, better late than never, a sister has been spread thin. Nonetheless, I definitely had to take the time to recognize Long Way Home, NTP’s highly anticipated mixtape.
First things first, how can you NOT show love to an artists who performs AND produces ?! To compliment her unique swag, Nay has appearances by talented Bay artists including Just Visionz, Timothy Rhyme, Ceci Simone, Noah-O, Rymo, The Kid Rated R, Drago, and Barnone. The project is hosted by Miss Special, from Special Sunday’s Radio Show, and there is a track on the project for everyone to relate to.
I tried to decide which track on the project would be deemed my favorite, but ultimately the choice was impossible. I rock with pretty much the whole project and I officially say #thatsdope! I like artists that are able to tell relatable stories without being phony, and I appreciate the fact that each song introduced me to NTP a little bit more.
Hit up Datpiff.com, type in “Long Way Home” in the search box, and get to know one of the Bay’s hottest upcoming artists a little bit more via her music !
Oh, you’re welcome for me puttin’ you on.
Follow @naytheproducer for updates on her shows and projects!
I love this new track from @naytheproducer, @JEFFKISTHENAME, and @TimothyRhyme track, “Unconditional”.

US actor Danny Glover, who plans an epic next year on Haitian independence hero Toussaint-Louverture, said he slaved to raise funds for the movie because financiers complained there were no white heroes.
“Producers said ‘It’s a nice project, a great project… where are the white heroes?’” he told the press during a stay in Paris this month for a seminar on film.
“I couldn’t get the money here, I couldn’t get the money in Britain. I went to everybody. You wouldn’t believe the number of producers based in Europe, and in the States, that I went to,” he said.
D”The first question you get, is ‘Is it a black film?’ All of them agree, it’s not going to do good in Europe, it’s not going to do good in Japan.
“Somebody has to prove that to be a lie!”, he said. “Maybe I’ll have the chance to prove it.”
“Toussaint,” Glover’s first project as film director, is about Francois Dominique Toussaint Louverture (1743-1803), a former slave and one of the fathers of Haiti’s independence from France in 1804, making it the first black nation to throw off imperial rule and become a republic.
The uprising he led was bloodily put down in 1802 by 20,000 soldiers dispatched to the Caribbean by Napoleon Bonaparte, who then re-established slavery after its ban by the leaders of the French Revolution.
Due to be shot in Venezuela early next year, the film will star Don Cheadle, Mos Def, Wesley Snipes and Angela Bassett.
How the fuck can a film about the Haitian Revolution/Fight for Independence/Black Slave Revolt have “white heroes”??
People just make me sick sometimes.
Gon’ Danny Glover, make that film. I promise to go see it.
Damn white people, it can’t be about you all the time. Trying to make yourselves hero of a history that ain’t even yours. Ugh.
Yeah, we’ll just plant white heroes were there weren’t any, cause, you know, we have a shortage of white protagonists in film these days.
-_-
*pulls out hair*
I can’t wait to PAY to go see this. :)

Nay The Producer. #dopestuff ! The bay is truly a melting pot of gumbo and without talent like this… something would be missing from the dish and the taste would be off !!!
Nay The Producer is definitely a favorite of mine, #maniloveherteam
Last week, rumors spread that Bay Area rappers Too $hort and Messy Marv were beefing after Marv initiated a war of words on Twitter. Short, who is approaching album #19 (”No Trespassing”) and is a little more old school, demanded a face-to-face meeting instead of a Twitter war.
We relayed this message to Messy, then passed along his number to Short, and the two had a conversation and squashed things. But barely an hour later, Messy Marv tweeted “FUCK TOO SHORT” and is now preparing to release the video for a diss record he calls “The Bay’s Biggest Hypocrite.”“I’m not in a battle,” Too Short says. “He’s battling by himself. Believe me.” So does Messy have a legitimate gripe, or a publicity stunt? You can listen — or read — what Short had to say after the jump and judge for yourself.
